Physical
Description When
on fire, Vincent can shoot balls of fire from his hands.
Though he needs practice in aiming. REALLY needs practice
in aiming. And also when on fire, and only when on fire,
he is able to fly. He is able to reach speeds of up to 50
miles an hour through the air. Though he really, REALLY
needs to learn how to fly. He doesn't have the finer
points of motor control flying at those speeds and often
hits things especially when trying to turn or stop
suddenly. While in his flame shape, or normal shape,
Vincent is able to control other fire sources near by
him. And he can create very basic shapes with the fire,
though once he stops concentrating on those shapes they
disperse. Given that Vincent
is able to generate, control and envelop himself in fire,
Vincent can not be harmed by any heat source under 900
Fahrenheit. Even when he's not flaming. However, he does
need the presence of oxygen to flame. Thus if he's in a
low oxygen atmosphere or space, he can't flame. And his
flame can be put out by smothering materials such as
sand, fire fighting foam, heat-resistant blankets and
water. Now a water pistol certainly won't put out his
flames, it'll own turn to steam. But a large bucket of
water can put him out until he's able to dry out again.
And he hasn't a chance of being able to flame when it's
raining out. Luckily for Vincent, when he turns to flame,
his clothes are still there when he turns back to normal. Only 16 when Vincent was born, Brandie's father threw her out of the house. She was forced to get a job as a waitress and with some help from her mother, was able to just make ends meet. Vincent was only 4 years old the first time he met his father. After five years away at college, when Jimmy returned to Bison, he immediately looked Brandie up, wanting his son. Surprisingly enough, Jimmy wanted to be a father. He wanted his son and he was determined to get Vincent no matter what. At first, Jimmy tried to force, and then threaten, Brandie to give up her rights to Vincent. But when she refused, he brought in lawyers. With his family's backing, he could certainly afford much better lawyers than Brandie could hope to afford. And he could afford to keep them on his payroll longer than Brandie could too. And after Brandie had become pregnant with Vincent, the Bison rumor mill had destroyed what little reputation she'd had. She'd been vilified as the white trash slut who'd tried to sleep her way up the social ladder. Where as Jimmy had been painted by those same rumors as a good, hard working son of a respected family. Tricked into falling for a greedy, grasping whore out for his family's money. Brandie knew what was coming. Between Jimmy's lawyers, and the rumors about her, she didn't have a chance to win custody in court. Vincent would be taken from her and she'd never see him again. And she knew from first hand experience that Jimmy had a violent temper. She was sure it'd be a matter of time before he started taking it out on Vincent. With no options left, Brandie snuck out of town in the dead of night, taking Vincent with her. They began to move from town to town never staying for more than a year at most. Brandie certain that it was the only way to keep her beloved child from being snatched away from her. But living that life style, with not even a high school diploma, Brandie eventually become a prostitute to make ends meet. For Vincent, it was a lonely time. He was always the new kid with no friends. By the time he'd start to make friends, they were moving again. Or worse, they'd stay in a town long enough for him to make friends and then the parents would discover how his mother made a living. And they'd then refuse to allow him to play with their children.
Then came the night 10 year old Vincent was awakened by police arriving at their neat little trailer. That was the night he learned his mother had been brutally murdered in one of the shabby little motels off the strip. One thoughtless police officer made him look at photos of the crime scene to identify his mother. Afterwards, the officers left Vincent with a worker for child services who stuck Vincent in an orphanage. His mother's murder was never solved and Vincent was shipped off from one foster home to another for the next 3 years. One thing he learned while in these foster homes was that he didn't much care for the treatment he kept getting. At the age of 12, his power emerged for the first time, and he accidentally set fire to some grass. His foster mother at the time accused him of setting fire to it in the natural way and had him removed from her home. Vincent was then sent to a new foster home run by a cruel man interested only in the money he could get taking in children. Alex Brenton had two other foster boys, and he terrorized Vincent and the other two. Forcing them to work as little more than slave labor on his small farm. And if they didn't do it quickly enough, or properly, he would beat the boys. Then came the day things just went all to hell. It was Vincent's turn to make Alex's dinner. And when the older man came into the kitchen in a foul mood, he startled Vincent so badly that the boy dropped the cup of hot coffee in his hand, dumping it by accident on Alex's leg. That was more than enough to unleash Alex's full furry on Vincent. He attacked the 13 year old as Vincent tried flee. Catching Vincent on the porch, Alex began to mercilessly beat him. Seeing the look in Alex's eyes, Vincent realized in horror that this time Alex was going to kill him. Vincent reacted in blind terror to the threat to his life. His power was unleashed and everything in 300 yards was destroyed, including Alex and the other two foster boys who had been rushing forward to try and help Vincent. Vincent
woke up two days later in the hospital. Police at first
suspected him of starting the fire. Given that he'd been
unharmed in the blaze. But given the lack of a flammable
agent to start the fire, and the obvious injuries Vincent
was suffering from the beating, he was eventually ruled
out. By the time that anyone thought that perhaps they
were dealing with a mutant, Vincent had been sent off to
another foster home. But by this time, Vincent had had
more than enough of foster homes and had run away. He's
been living on the streets since. |
