Background: Quiet and calm, Soul is, deep
down, very kind hearted. A dedicated and responsible
young man, he is educated and well off. He is a peaceful
man, and doesn't like fighting, but also knows the need
for it. He is a warm and polite man towards
everyone. General History: Born and raised in the town of Karlovasi, Drake was his parent's only child and the heir to their Winery business. Neila was born in the village of Pyrgos. The two met each other in high school when Drake accidentally bumped into Neila and helped her pick up her books. The two were soon High school sweet hearts and when Neila graduated, Drake gave her a promise ring. Hoping that she wouldn't forget him as he had one more year of high school left, and she was going on to college. The next year when he graduated, Drake joined his family's business instead of going to college. Learning the ropes of running the winery from his parents. Graduating from Business school in 1970, Neila returned to her home island and Drake and the two soon took up where they had left off and were quickly engaged. 2 years later they were married and Neila added her new learned skills to the family business. Helping to make D'Vaya wines a leading company in the world of wines. 5 years after their marriage, in 1977, their first child, a daughter they named Heart, was born. Soul was born on June 22nd 1986 in the town Karlovasi, on the island of Samos, Greece. 8 years after his older sister was born. Growing up in Samos, Soul, with his best friend explored the waterfalls around his town, played in the valley of Nightingales and explored ancient ruins. Besides those spots, his favorite places were the archaeological and paleontological museums on Samos. As childhood's go, his was certainly full. Soul was 11 years old when his sister Heart left Greece and traveled to British Columbia to attend business school there. Wanting to also see different places and get away from home. When she returned home when he was 13, she brought with her a man named James Wells. Two months after returning, she and James were married. Exactly nine months later, in 99, Todd their first child was born. Soul was rather besotted with being an uncle now. At 15 the young boy met a new girl in his homeroom called Natassia and the two quickly hit it off. Their fellow students often teased the two on just how fast they began dating each other. But all teasing aside, the two young teenagers were inseparable. At 17, young Soul graduated from college early and took a literature course while he considered his options. On March 20th 2003, 18 year old Soul's powers came out and the rather visible wings emerged from his back. Taking a month too fully mature. It wasn't an easy time for Soul. His parents didn't understand what was happening to him, nor did they want to. When he hesitantly told Natassia about his developing mutant powers, she made it quite clear she wanted nothing more to do with him. Soul never felt so alone during that time. Sick inside every time he thought about what was happening to him. Knowing from news reports some of the things that happens to mutants. The only person who didn't treat him differently once his powers began emerging was his sister Heart. Who became a constant source of comfort for her little brother. Even if she didn't quite understand what he was going through. Forced to consider his options, which he felt, were now severely limited by wings, which marked him as a mutant, in September of that year, Soul chose to join the priesthood. Feeling that there he could still make something of his life. And where he still had a chance of being accepted. There, the young man was not only accepted and began training as a priest, he was also given courses in teaching so that he could teach Literature and History at the local schools. It was the next year when the now 19-year-old priest's niece Fawn was born. The year after that, at the age of 20, Soul got his teaching degree and was given a job at one of the high schools. Wearing priestly vestments specially fitted to keep his wings hidden beneath them. To his students, he was just a young man who had a spine defect. Not a mutant hiding his wings beneath his clothes. Soul was comfortable with his life as it was. Not happy, but comfortable. He had a job, teaching students to love history and literature. A secure home with people who, while they might not understand his mutant abilities, at least accepted him. But he wasn't allowed to use his mutant abilities. Sure they couldn't forbade him from healing himself of injuries since he had no control over that part of his power… But they did forbade him from using it to heal others. They did forbade him from flying. And young Soul also missed the relationship between a girlfriend and boyfriend. Not flying or trying to heal another person's injuries was like telling Soul not to breathe though. He was compelled to use his mutant abilities. Taking to the sky in flight late at night when he had little chance of the other priests catching him. Using his power to heal when he felt he could do it without getting caught. Yet, these small acts of disobedience did help to make things more bearable for him. But by the time 4 years in the priesthood had passed he finally had to admit that the priesthood wouldn't work for him. He didn't much like having to hide his mutant powers as if it was some kind of dirty sin. That and he'd realized the whole celibacy thing was something he wasn't going to be able to stick to his entire life. Quitting the priesthood on Feb 5th, Soul returned to his family's home where he, his sister and his best friend stayed up late talking and getting plastered on the family wine. The next day they all had massive hangovers and Soul was ready to start looking for a new job and a change in his life. 3 months
later he was still looking for a job. Having discovered
that not many people in his homeland were willing to hire
a mutant. So he was rather happy to get an offer to teach
at a mutant school in Alaska. Special
Notes: Soul's eyesight is
6 times better than a normal human's and are specially
adapted to the speeds at which he can fly. He has
extremely quick reflexes, and his body has a great deal
more muscles in his upper torso than a normal human's
body due to the structure of the wings he has. His bones
are also hollow and there fore, they break much more
easily than a normal human's would. He speaks Greek,
French and English. While donating some blood to save
Warren's life, Soul learned that Warren Worthington the
third III is his half brother. So far, the only ones that
know this are Soul, Nicole, Hank and Soul's parents. |
