Mutant Power: Weather Control

Extents (ability): Austin has the ability to create and dispense all forms of weather over a 3 mile area. His body also automatically adjusts to the surrounding temperatures. Giving him a limited immunity to extreme colds and heats, which means that in temperatures of minus 30, or temperatures of up to 100 degrees before he begins to feel any discomfort.

Austin's powers are affected by his emotions. If he loses his temper, or gives in to fear, he can set off destructive storms in his area.

Personality

Psychological Background: Austin has a quiet, unassuming manner. He's cautious around strangers, especially adults and is always aware of his surroundings. He doesn't like being in large crowds at all and there are times when he can't bear to be around other people at all. Times when he just needs to get out by himself and enjoy the peace and quiet of nature. He is in fact, happiest outside. People often think he's a bit reserved, but around those he trusts he is more open towards. They get to see the playful, mischievous side of him.


Personality Quirks: Always has money on him, hooked on apple turnovers, plays with earlobe when thinking, and only wears expensive clothing


History

General History: Born on May 1 into one of the oldest surviving noble families in England, Austin has lived a life of wealth and privilege. However despite having servants to cater to him, and a rather generous allowance, his mother has kept a firm hand on he and his siblings. Preferring to keep them from becoming spoiled, obnoxious brats.

Austin for the most part lived as normal a life as he was able to, given his status in society. And like most teenagers, he likes day dreaming about some day becoming a rock star. Or an actor. Or perhaps something with astronomy. At the same time though, he realizes that as his father's heir, he'll be one day the 14th Duke of Glastonbury and Sussex, etc, etc. and that such dreams are little more than that. Dreams.

When Austin joined High School, he met one of other boys there called Eric White. Eric lived with his father and they were not nearly as well off as the other children attending Austin's school. Although Eric was getting finical help because of his excellent grades, he still worried about how much the school was costing his father, Kile Who would only respond that you had to spend money to make money. A response that didn't make since to Eric. At the school, he was personable enough to make several friends with the richer students and became best friends with Austin.

Over the months, the two boys would on occasion skip school to go have some fun. Austin loved it. Skipping class and getting to act like a normal high school kid instead of having to deal with being a nobleman's son. He also loved being able to get away from the bodyguard his father had hired for him.

But Eric's father had an ulterior motive for making sure his son attended a high school where wealthy children learned. And he was aware of Eric and his friends skipping classes every now and then. And so after a few months of preparation, with the help of one of his friends, he watched and waited the school for the next time his son and his friends snuck off for a day of fun.

He and his friend pulled a van in front of Kile, Brian and Eric and forced the three boys into the car at gunpoint. Kile bound and gagged them as his partner drove off. Unaware of his father's plan, and not knowing that it was Kile under the mask, Eric was just as shocked and frightened as his friends. Kile and his partner drove out of the city and dumped Eric out of the car to walk back on his own. Driving off, they made their way back to the city and to Kile's home where he locked the two bound and gagged boys up in his shed behind his home.

By the time Eric was able to get to a phone and call for help, the truck was ditched, and no one knew where the boys could possibly be. Kile and his friend sent ransom notes to Austin and Brian's families. Demanding that the money be sent to a Swiss bank account, and thus avoid the chance of capture at some drop off point.

Two days later, the money was in the checking account. The entire time, Austin and Brian had been trussed up in the shed without food, water or facilities. With the money now in the bank Kile and his partner didn't need the boys. Kile placed a silencer on his gun and he and his partner went out to the shed. Once in there, Kile shot his partner and Brian.

The realization that he was going to be killed was Austin's breaking point. The pressure awakened his power and the resulting release of windstorm and lightning storm inside the shed destroyed the small building. Kile was killed being as he was slammed up against tools in the shed. Austin was knocked unconscious and injured by flying debris.

Police were called by neighbors after the shed apparently exploded. They were the ones to find the bodies and Austin. Luckily for Austin, there were explosive materials in the shed and at a loss for explanations, placed the destruction of the shed. Forensic evidence then gave the story of who had done the shooting. Austin was safely reunited with his family at the hospital. Brian's body was returned to his family, and Austin's father Forbes decided that Eric should be allowed to have the money his father had ransomed for. Feeling bad for the young man, despite what his father had done.

But since the kidnapping, Austin's been having nightmares. And each time he has a nightmare, his powers manifest. Desperate to help his eldest, and keep the rest of his family safe, Forbes did the only thing he could think of to help Austin.

Forbes was a mutant also. And during his youth he and his wife had traveled. In those travels they had met and befriended Charles Xavier. Forbes knew that Charles was a mutant too. He also knew about the school Charles was running, so when his son's powers emerged with no control, he contacted his old friend and it was suggested that they bring Austin to the new school in Alaska. Despite the rather chill location, Forbes thought it was an excellent idea. His son would learn how to use his powers, plus anyone looking to extort money from him would never think to look for his son there.
